how’s the kid in me?
June 11, 2006| Your Inner Child Is Happy |
You see life as simple, and simple is a very good thing. You’re cheerful and upbeat, taking everything as it comes. And you decide not to worry, even when things look bad. You figure there’s just so many great things to look forward to. |
so, if you have kids, let them be kids. don’t put too much pressure on them. let them make their own mistakes.
let them run around the house. let them climb trees. let them dig in your backyard. it’s alright for them to get their hands dirtied and their clothes soiled. you can clean it up later with them anyway.
just let them have a good time with their own childhood.
i don’t have kids (and i don’t even know if i want to have them) but i know that i turned out fine because i had a happy childhood. i know it’s not the single reason why i am who i am right now but it would be nice for them to be able to look back, smile and feel warm inside when they remember their childhood memories.
at least, it worked for me. whenever i feel pissed off by what’s going on around me, i think back to the times my sister and i were cloud-watching. we’re out in our yard, under the shade of a huge mango tree and we’re lying on our backs in tattered folding beds, waiting for the mirage in the sky.
